Menu Plan: Flavor and Spice!

When it gets cold and dreary, I have to admit I’m not the kind of girl who starts craving meatloaf, roasts, and lots of potatoes. I don’t yearn for gravy and cream sauces. Nah, I’m the kind of girl who starts pouring copious amounts of red pepper flakes on her pizza and looking for more and more ways to add salsa and guac to my foods!

When I get chilled? I like some heat in my food! This is reflected in this week’s menu plan through lots of meals that contain abundant flavor and spice.

you gotta eat

B–Cereal, Apples, Milk ( before 7:30AM Mass)

Brunch– Cinnamon Roll Bread, Sausages, Blueberries

D–Buffalo Chicken & Bleu Cheese Burritos (<– I had planned these for Saturday, but wound up making ground turkey & feta burgers instead)

B–Cranberry Chocolate Chip Muffins, Yogurt

D–Pigs in Blankets, Fiery Corn

B–Cranberry Chocolate Chip Muffins, Scrambled Eggs, Grapefruit, Milk

D–Pepper Jack Pasta, Broccoli (***stay tuned! TWO versions of that pasta recipe are coming up tomorrow and the next day– both tasty and both easy!)

B–PB Toast, Grapefruit, Milk

D–Garlicky Chicken w/ Broccoli & Carrots over Rice

B–Cereal, Apples, Milk

D–Pepper & Meatball Soup, Salad

D–Large Pepperoni Pizza, Medium Mushroom, Onion, & Red Pepper Pizza (*made dough ahead and froze)

And that should do it!

  • Always impressed at how your little ones tolerate the spice, too! I guess I’ve passed on my spice wimpiness to the littles.

    • My husband and I both like spicy food and it never even occurred to us to give our kids a milder version. Thankfully, that method seems to have worked out because they all LOVE hot sauce, red pepper flakes, etc. The five year old wouldn’t HEAR of eating eggs without tabasco. ;)

We’ve passed on the spice wimpiness to our littles too. We don’t use a lot of spices either but if we are eating something new or a meal someone prepared for us, we’ll tolerate it. However, our littles will complain and not eat it.
