Have I told you all that I am currently living with two college men?
I have an eight-year-old who does his math studies through Johns Hopkins University under the guidance of a Stanford professor and a husband who is pursuing his MBA through a local university’s online programming. It’s all very exciting.
Also, as you definitely already know, there’s a blogger in this house. Oh, yeah. And we have ONE computer.
What this means is that we each have to guard our computer time carefully and learn how to focus even amid chaos. Sometimes? This can be challenging.
My husband truly bears the brunt of this. Since he’s only home in the evenings and on weekends, the children are typically here at those times. And they tend to like to hang out with Daddy. As a result, he ends up trying to get MBA work done while all sorts of noise and play are happening around him. The only way he’s going to be able to do that effectively? Is by wearing headphones.
Previously, he would don his earbuds and call it good. Good enough, at least. I’m sure that they did help him hear the lecture better. I’m sure the music he’d listen to do did help filter out some of the noise clutter that invades a home with three children. Realistically, though, I know he could still hear us. He could be on the living room couch and hear me ask a question from the kitchen; that’s not exactly ideal for focus.
When our (amazingly gorgeous green!!!!) Monster headphones arrived, that all changed. Not only are these headphones infinitely more comfortable than earbuds– and, seriously, there is NO comparison– they also have such superior sound quality. Music can sound “slushy” when listened to through inferior headphones, but these offer clear, dimensional, true sound. I was really surprised by the difference.
What also amazed me was how well the headphones directed and filtered sound. When I have them on? I can hear the music– and only the music– but no one else can hear it. That’s a big plus because, frankly, not every one else wants to hear your tunes, you know what I mean?
One thing that sometimes makes us nervous about having high-quality products is that we do live in a house with three small children– we don’t really want to shell out for the good stuff only to have it broken in a week.
But do you see that? It’s ridiculous how flexible and durable these are. And that’s a very good thing around here! It’s nice to feel like, should the children pick up the headphones, they’re not going to snap them within 25 seconds.
Though I’m a green girl at heart, and I love this candy green, there are other colors for those with other favorites. Monster headphones are also available in candy blue, candy red, candy purple, and candy tangerine.
While I’ll be honest with you all and say that I probably wouldn’t just shell out this much money for a pair of headphones “just because”, I think they could make a great gift for someone. You all know what a fan I am of of the “practical splurge” category and these Monster headphones fit beautifully in there.
