Dark Chocolate Berry Crunch

There’s a reason Nestle Crunch bars have been around for a gazillion (okay, 76) years. They’re really tasty! They’re simple and universally pleasing and rare is the person who declares, “ew, I hate Crunch bars.”

What would make them better? Darker chocolate, perhaps.

I’m also a huge sucker for chocolate covered berries of any kind. What’s not to like about that? The only thing I can think of is how long it takes to individually dip them– kind of putz-y.

This quick, no-brainer of a recipe combines the best of all worlds into a quick, yummy dessert snack!

Dark Chocolate Berry Crunch

ingredients:

  • 1 bag (12 oz.) dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup crisp rice cereal
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups dried berries (I used 1 1/2 cups of a blend of dried cranberries, blueberries, strawberries, and cherries, but use what you love!)

1.  Melt chocolate and butter together. I did this in the microwave, on medium power, stirring after 30-second increments. It took about 2 minutes, but microwaves do vary.

2.  Stir in cereal and berries until evenly coated.

3.  Spread in a thin layer over a parchment- or silpat-lined cookie sheet. Let set up in cool place (or refrigerator), then break into pieces or cut into squares.
