Bear-y White Pizza

Get it? Bear-y (Barry) White? Ha ha, I crack myself up.

Seriously though, this is a quick, delicious little personal pizza recipe you can whip up to delight your children any day of the week.

We happen to be doing Bear Camp this week (at the request of the toddler) and we’ve done tons of fun activities and read oodles of fantastic books. (In case you were wondering– Bear Camp is easier to put together than Unicorn Camp.)

Yesterday, I realized I had neglected to list any particular lunch on our menu plan and, miracle of miracles, we had no leftovers…

Impromptu Bear-y White Pizzas!

  • approx. 1 pound (grapefruit sized chunk) bread/pizza dough, divided (I had this in my fridge.)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon onion flakes
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • dash black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 425.

Divide dough into five balls, approx. the same size. Flatten four of those balls into circles and place on large greased (or cornmeal-dusted) baking sheet. These will be your bear faces.

Divide remaining dough ball into 8 equal pieces, roll into balls, and flatten to form the bears’ ears. Attach these to the faces on the baking sheet.

Combine sour cream, onion flakes, parsley, dill, garlic, salt, pepper, and milk until you’ve essentially made homemade ranch dressing. (You could substitute the bottled variety if you prefer.)

Spread ranch over each bear face and ears. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over entire surface of each bear.

Bake until golden, approx. 10 minutes.

yields: 4 individual bear pizzas (My children each ate a whole bear face, but I have good, hearty eaters. Some families could definitely feed a couple small kiddos off each bear.)

*These would have been adorable with eyes, noses, and mouths added on. I was really wishing I’d had some olives, pepperoni, and peppers on hand… but, alas, I did not. Feel free to make your bears extra special by adding some features!
