My Winter Hair and Head & Shoulders Eucalyptus Itchy Scalp Care

A long while back, I remember polling my Twitter friends as to how frequently they washed their hair. The results confirmed what I had already suspected; I wash my hair decidedly less often than the majority. My hair is long, color-treated, and on the dry side. As a result, I’ve found it looks much healthier and feels much softer if I leave it alone as much as possible. On average, I only need to wash my hair twice a week to keep it looking nice.

Even with such infrequent scrubbing, though, the winter months are a game-changer for my hair. Well, not my hair so much as my scalp. Cold New England winds and harsh heated inside air do a number on my poor head, and I can wind up with tight, itchy skin. No fun! At best, this is uncomfortable. At its worst, it can shed tiny little white flakes. Ick.

I was given the opportunity to try Head & Shoulders Eucalyptus Itchy Scalp Care products (shampoo and conditioner) for the past few weeks. I was excited to use the product because of their promise to ease three scalp and dandruff issues: dryness, itchiness, and sensitivity. I was also pleased to see that the product line includes a separate conditioner since my long hair really requires it. For me, a “2-in-1″ just doesn’t cut it.

I truly loved the scent of the Head & Shoulders Eucalyptus Itchy Scalp Care products. The eucalyptus is fresh and invigorating and makes me feel like my scalp and hair are truly getting clean. These scents, including almond oil, eucalyptus, and aloe vera, are not too girly nor too manly which makes it a nice choice if you’re sharing a shower (and products!) with a member of the opposite gender.

I only used the product for the minimum two times a week as recommended per the instructions (like I said– that’s my routine,) and I can still feel a difference in the condition of my scalp. The tightness and itchiness is gone. I haven’t noticed any ill-effects on my long, color-treated hair; it looks healthy and pretty, and the conditioner does an effective job.

Ultimately, I can definitely see a place for this product in my shower. My husband and I have different scalp/dandruff conditions but the Head & Shoulders Eucalyptus Itchy Scalp Care products are designed to treat all of our needs. This is good news for me as I move into my “dry scalp” months!
