Olay Professional Pro-X Clear (review & giveaway)

I was recently given the opportunity to try out the Olay Professional Pro-X Clear line.  Since Olay is a name I trust when it comes to caring for my skin, I was excited to try it out.  This particular line is specifically designed to control acne, help minimize the appearance of pores, and refine texture in as little as four weeks.  Truth?  I don’t actually deal with much in the way of adult acne.  I didn’t deal with much in the way of acne as a teenager, either.  Nonetheless, my “normal/combination” skin isn’t perfect!  I deal with tight dryness if I skip a moisturizer and oily spots or break-outs can pop up on my chin and nose.  I was happy to try out a quality skincare line on my face.

Here’s an example of my face before using these products:

As you can see, there are no horribly dramatic flaws.  Really big hair, but the makeup-free skin isn’t so bad.  My biggest complaint about my complexion there would be that my skin looked a little dull.  Kind of patchy and uneven.  Again, I’m not saying it was a great tragedy… just, well, blah.

I used this three-step program over the course of several weeks and I was pleased with it.  The first step involves cleansing and I was particularly happy with how gentle the Olay Professional Pro-X Clear Pore Clarifying cleanser was.  It didn’t dry or strip my skin at all– important for me as my cheeks and forehead are prone to dryness.  I also loved the third, moisturizing step: Olay Professional Pro-X Clear Complexion Renewing Lotion.  Lightweight and non-irritating, it worked well for my skin, especially during these summer months.

Now, the second step of this skincare system is the acne treatment, Olay Professional Pro-X Clear Acne Skin Clearing Treatment and, I must admit, I used a very small amount of this product since I had no noticeable breakouts at the time of testing.  Still, I am happy to report that it did not dry out my skin…  I feared I would be left with flaky skin, but my skin was absolutely fine.   Since adult skin is very different from the skin of teenagers, it makes sense to have a product that addresses this.  So many acne treatments are designed with teen skin in mind–the Olay Professional Pro-X Clear Line does a great job of making a product that, in my opinion, is much gentler and addresses the changing needs of, ahem, more mature skin. ;)

So how does my skin look now?

Well, there I am (again, makeup-free), captured my six year old– busted after dozing off on the porch swing.  I think my skin looks even, healthy, and maybe a little brighter than in the “before” shot.  I hate to think how my skin would look now if I kept swabbing on the astringents I used way back in the day!
